Feagin School of Dramatic Radio and Arts
Isabelle Gerhardt in TWELFTH NIGHT and at Rockefeller Plaza
We had a sense of pride being part of Feagin since, we were told, it was one of the few establishments that reflected the intended plan of Rockefeller Center. First conceived as a cultural community that would house the likes of Carnegie Hall and the Metropolitan Opera, the depression altered those plans.
Only five entities hinted at the original plan: Radio City Music Hall, Center Theater (Sonja Henie's Ice Skating show when I was there), Berlitz School of Languages, a small News Reel theater and Feagin. I now wonder how much of that was true, but it captured our attention at the time. The fact that Angela Lansbury and Jeff Chandler were alumni fed into our pride and dreams as well. |
